This weekend turned out to be awesome! Friday night...nothing! Wahoo! Saturday, Tony took Kaden to a Redbirds game while Brady and I went to a brthday party. Tony fixed the trampoline and the boys spent about a hour out there last night while I got ready for Adam's going away dinner. We had some friends over and had a great, stress free hangout night. I know I haven't posted any pics in a week or so...so here you are!

The first pic is Tony and me in the kitchen last night before the party.

Here's Kaden after doing some flips on the trampoline. He cracks me up with his crazy hair!

Here we have Brady showing off on the trampoline.

And lastly, Kaden and his daddy at the game!

It has been a long week and I'm so happy it's comeing to an end! I have been teaching poetry this week and today we started an art project. I will take my camera tomorrow and post some pics of my awesomely creative students!

I wanted to turn you on to a blog I recently heard about.

Prayers for Stellan

My friend, Amber, has been asking me to pray for this family for a few weeks. I finally stopped at her blog tonight and realized the overwhelming need for prayer in this family's life. I will let you read for your self. I hope that you will join me in praying for this family and their sweet little boy with the heart condition!

I'm sitting here cracking up at my mom! Today, we discussed what she should blog about. She is in a contest on www.tallyscrapper.com to become part of the design team. One of the requirements is that she has a blog. Well, as computer savey as she is, she has no idea about the blogging world other than she has been reading mine for years. Well, now she's in and I'm sure she will be hooked! So, please, check out my mom's blog and let her know you're reading!

Spring Break is coming to an end and I figured that I needed to at least post something. I have't put all the pics on the computer yet. But I couldn't resist this one. We...well the boys...painted the wrapping paper on my Dad's birthday gift. This is Brady having too much fun! I thought it was a pretty cool pic. I will get somemore up as soon as I get time.
I'm going to be working on cleaning out the boys' rooms the rest of the night. Wish me luck!

March 7, 2009

We've always said that we will probably spend more time in the Emergency Room than not...having two boys. Well, we were right. Yesterday afternoon we took Brady for his first stitches.
He was riding his bike in the cove and was trying to turn around. He said he hit a rock and fell. His hand somehow got stuck in the wheel and he busted his chin wide open. He was bleeding so bad. We took Kaden to a neighbor's house and off we went.
We got to the Urgent Care office and we were able to get right back. Apparently, everyone was out getting hurt because after we got there they ended up having 5 more lacerations show up. They gave him some meds to make him relax and then he got three shots in his chin! I felt so sorry for him. He ended up getting 7 stitches and was so brave!
Here are the pics from the evening. The last one is of his actual stitches and chin.

He has felt much better today. He even went outside and played t-ball with us.

Snow Pics

This morning we woke up to three inches of snow! Brady is at my aunt's house so I only have cute pics of Kaden in the snow!

As you can tell, he just loved it! He kept running around smiling and laughing! He's just so darn cute!

We had a super busy weekend around the Pillstrom house. Friday, Brady had a friend from school spend the night. Then Saturday, Kaden and I went to a birthday party...more on that in a minute. And then Saturday night Brady and I had a date. The first pic I'm posting is of us before our date!

My friend Teresa's twins turned one of the 15th. They celebrated their party on Saturday. It was a two peas in a pod party. They are so stinking cute!

I have a ton of pics but I will let their mommy post those.

Brady had his pine box derby at Boy Scouts this weekend. This is a picture of him and his car! He didn't win but he had a great time.

We also played "Apples to Apples" but I didn't get any pictures of that because I was fighting Kaden off while Brady was freaking out because he was touching the cards the whole game! Other than that...we ate a little, slept a little, and went to church!

I'm sitting here, just one day away from being 34. Can you believe it? I feel so old! I'm posting a few things tonight. The first is the other way I can wear my new hair cut. I really like it best messy.

This hair cut has been so much fun!
This next pic is me a month ago. I had just gotten home from the gym. Don't worry, I usually work out with a shirt on. But Tony was watching "Biggest Loser" and I got the idea that I needed a "BEFORE" pic. So, sweatiness and all, I had him take the embarressing pic!

This picture is aweful! I can't believe I got to this point!
But, here we are, one month later and I'm well on my way to a success story!

Yes, I'm wearing clothes, but I think you can tell that I'm getting in shape! I've lost 7 lbs and have dropped a pants size. I'm working out 4-5 days a week and really watching what I eat. I've been drinking tons of water and I am thinking of cutting out soda. My goal is to lose 40lbs and I think I can acheive that goal if I keep it up! Please pray that I won't get back to that aweful pic.

Well, I finally got my hair did! (That's how my students would say it!)

For some reason, I can't seem to get Tony to budget in a hair cut. So, I've been dealing with the thickest hair for a few months. Finally, he said I could go! And man did I need it! The lady who cut my hair spent an hour cutting about two inches off. It was so thick she spent all that time thinning it out. It's a lot cuter than the picture shows. I'm still trying to figure out how to style it. It's also really cute straight which is how I plan to style it today. I'll post a pic.

Last night, my cheerleaders had their final competition of the year. They dropped two stunts so we were a little worried. But, thanks to the difficulty of their stunts, they received first place! It was well deserved! Those girls have worked their tails off this year and it was so nice to end on a win!

And last but not least, Here's a pic of Paige and me. She was one of my students last year and we developed such a wonderful connection. She's like having my own little girl wrapped in a little sister! She comes to my class and helps me with things I have to do! I'm so grateful for this girl! Plus, I wanted to post this pic because I think you can tell that I'm actually losing weight! I have started hating pics of myself, but I think this one looks ok!

Well, Kaden is on his way to recovery. He's still not eating much and though he's drinking a lot, he hasn't had a wet pullup in about 24 hours. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Now to the funniest story I've heard in forever! My dad called today and said on Monday, my step brother mentioned that he was thinking about breaking up with his girl friend. He wasn't looking forward to this but he felt it was something he needed to do. He's in high school. Well, on Tuesday morning, dad said that my step brother was walking from the kitchen to the bathroom and as he passed my step mom, he said, "I hate Life!" My step mom freaked! She went right to my dad telling him this was a call for help! Something was wrong. What were they going to do? So, dad calmly went to the bathroom where he was getting ready and asked if everything was ok. My brother asked why and dad mentioned that he said he hated life. Then my brother said, "LIFE cereal! We've been eating it for three weeks and I hate it! Can we get something else?" OMGosh! I was cracking up! My parents were freaking out and all he wanted was some new cereal! That boy is so funny!

What a long night we've had here at the Pillstrom house! Last night, around 11:45, Kaden decided that he needed to puck and poop until about 5 this morning. I stayed up with him because I have more days to use than Tony. He finally went to sleep about 6 this morning and slept til noon. Then he woke up with a fever and decided to throw up again! So, as we speak, Tony is at the doctor with him. I have cheer practice so I couldn't take him. But I'm thinking that I will still stay home with him tomorrow! Poor baby! He's so pitiful when he's sick...but then again aren't we all!

SNOW DAY!

It's finally happened! My first snow day as a teacher! Can I just say that I was totally looking forward to this? It's always such a tease in this part of the world! They will say it may snow but we never see it! Well, the boys were glad to wake up at 8 and realize that we were staying home today!
So, we got dressed and went outside before the snow melted all the way. I mean seriously, there's not enough to really play. However, they made the most of it!

Brady wanted to have a snowball fight. Kaden just wanted to run around and throw snow everywhere! It was just too cute watching them have a great time! So, our plans today consist of the gym, lunch, nap, nothing! I don't even have a book to read! Maybe I'll clean something, but then again it's a snow day! Aren't we supposed to wrap up in a blanket and just watch movies all day?
I will say, I had already gotten up and gotten ready for the day when we found out. So, I went back to bed. It was nice to wake up clean with my face and hair fixed! Wouldn't it be nice to wake up that way every day?
I hope you enjoy the snow day!

1/20/09

I have to brag on my child...Brady is awesome! I know that all mothers say this about their child...but wait until I tell you what he said today! Ok...let me back up a little bit. After the election Brady was pretty upset that the guy he picked didn't win. He actually cried. He was upset because someone at school told him our new President didn't believe in God. Well, of course I had to say the mom thing and tell him that we don't know for sure if he believes and that it's our job to pray for him. Also, that no matter who won, he will be our leader and that God wants us to support him. Also that it's unpatriotic to talk bad about our president.

So, today, I brought home the newspaper with Obama's picture on the front page. I told Brady I had a surprise for him. When he saw it he got all excited talking about our new president and he was excited to have this paper. I asked him why he was so excited about his new president since it wasn't the guy he wanted. He said..."Mommy, you said we support our president no matter who he is." Oh, I am so proud. That was one of those moments when my heart just smiled. I can't believe he is so grown up. He's my baby...well not anymore but still!

1/13/09

so, I'm sitting in the living room last night watching tv and I start to notice that Kaden is awefully quite in his room. I hear him cry a little bit and then before I could go back there he was quite again. Well, in an effort to not bother him I waited about 10 more minutes to check on him. I started wondering what was up when he never came out and he was wearing real underwear. I thought I'd better go find him and make sure he hadn't had an accident when I walk into his room and find this.......
The lighting was pretty bad for some reason so here's what he looked like when I got in the room....

I couldn't stop laughing! I know it's mean that I made him sit there and endure the humiliation but I couldn't not make a video of it! This is priceless!

Today, I walked 10376 steps! I wore a pedometer today to school just to see how much I actually walk. Now I have to admit, I did take a few extra steps today just becuase I was wearing it...but I guess that's the point right? I'm still working on my goal of losing 40lbs by June. We'll see if I can acutally do it! But I have to admit, I'm trying really hard.
So far, I've lose 5 lbs. I think that's pretty good for two weeks. I'm counting points with weight watchers online and I'm working out 5 days a week. I learned today that a couple of people at school lost 7 lbs and worked out 7 days. I guess I need to step it up if I want to win this competition. Acutally, there's a double bonus. I'm joining the church weight loss challenge. It's a $20 joining fee and they give weekly prizes plus overall prizes. I think I really have a chance to win part of this competition becuase I have such motivation. I will post a weekly update to let you know how I'm doing.

It is so incredibly weird typing '09! This past year went by so fast. I will spare the recap and just talk about what's been goin on in the world of the Pillstrom Family these days. Let's see...Christmas was awesome. The boys got more than enough. I've already posted that. I've fallen in love again. What you ask?

Edward and Bella! That's right...I gave into the teenaged man and read the most popluar young adult book this week. Well, not really week...it actually took me less than a day. Yes, I sat down and read a whole book in less than 24 hours. I know I'm crazy. And the worst part, I'm addicted! I have been dying (no pun intended) all weekend to get the second book. I will be borrowing it from a friend tomorrow when I go to see the movie! I can't wait! I will totally recommend this one! I loved it!
We had some friends over for New Year's Eve.

These pics don't do the night justice! Amber was a hoot on the drums! Poor Kaden just wanted to have a turn! The kids actually stayed up until about 1:30am. I was shocked! They slept in until 9 the next morning. It was awesome!
Then last night......craziness!

A couple of games of Pit and then some Spoons. It was a party for the She ministry. That's where my heart seems to be these days! I love these ladies and I just love serving in this ministry!
Now...I'm just a day away from school starting back. I can't believe how fast the holiday went by! I'm glad to be getting back into a routine!
I got a new camera so stay tuned and I will try and update a lot more this year!

12/29/08

I have been a scrapbooking psycho latily! Mom added a digitial scrapbook program to our new computer and I'm loving it! I have been posting my pages on a site www.tallyscrapper.com but I thought I would post some of my favorites on my blog!

This is Brady and his teacher Mrs. Goff. He just adores her! He talks about her all the time and I am so grateful for what she has been teaching him this year! I love her because she loves Christ and it shows in how she loves her students! She is a wonderful teacher!

As you know I got a stress fracture earlier this school year. I had to document the 12 weeks I spent with this boot on! Yes, I blinged it out because I was tired of it being so ugly!
Tony and I at Chuck E Cheese! This is our expression when we are there!
This is my favorite page I've done so far because I love the colors!
Well, that's it for now! I have to go to the gym...my class I'm taking starts in 15 minutes! If you want to see more check out the page I was talking about!

Merry Christmas!

I know it's a complete shock that I'm blogging on time. But we were just sitting here waiting to go to lunch and I thought I would post some pics from this morning.

As you can see, the boys racked up the loot this year! Brady woke up before everyone else. He quietly went to the living room and just sat looking at his presents while he waited on everyone else to wake up.
Kaden ended up in our bed sometime over night so we woke him up. We thought he'd run straight to the jeep but he went to the kitchen instead! He has been "cooking" for us all morning!

Brady had asked for so many things and was super excited to see that Santa got him a DS. He also got a new robe, Wii games, Connect 4, Battleship, a camera, a sleeping bag, and a race track.
Kaden got a Jeep, kitchen, laptop, Little People plane, an MP3 player, a robe, and a doctor's kit. I'm sure there are many more things I can't seem to remember right now!
I got a new iPOD and some gift cards. Tony got some Wii pajamas......
and a lot of other things!
Well, I have to get the kids ready to go to my aunt's house for round two!
have a Merry CHRISTmas and I'll add more later!

12/22/08

So, I have been waiting by the mail box everyday for the past week on my results from my test. As you know, I have taken the Praxis 2 six times and this test is the only thing that stands in the way of my teaching career. Well, today, I called the company and asked if I was ever going to get my scores. Well, come to find out they have been available online for more than a week now. No one ever told me they wouldn't be mailed anymore. So, I checked today, and.....drum roll please.....I PASSED! Whew! I can't believe that the sixth time is the charm. I am so grateful to God for passing this test!

I have tons of pics of the boys to post but I'm tied so I will do that tomorrow!

12/17/08

I can't believe that Christmas is just a week away! Where has the year gone? Maybe before the year is over I will do a year in review blog. But for now, I will just update you on what's going on at the Pillstrom house. This week has been very eventful. We got out of school early on Monday because of the possibility of snow. We thought we would be out of school on Tuesday but to no avail! Tuesday night, we learned that Tony's grandma died. She was 90years old and lived a good Christian life. We are sad but also happy that she's now with Jesus and her beloved husband.
We will be traveling to the Fort this weekend for the funeral. I originally had planned on going to a cheer competition but we have learned that you must be flexible in life!
This weekend was our small group Christmas party. Kaden actually sat in Santa's lap and didn't freak out like last year. I'm sure you all remember the picture. So, here is a picc from this year.
I was so proud of him! I am also proud that he continues to do well with potty training as long as we stay on top of things. He will go if you make him but he's still too busy to tell us he needs to go. He usually tells you after the fact.

Here are the boys with Lanah. She is such a cutie. She's three and though you would think she would beKaden's girlfriend, and he thinks she is, she says that she's Brady's girlfriend. That's so sweet. She was looking at Brady but the picture snapped too late.

The of course, what would a blog be without a picture of the boys and me..taken by of course...me! They love taking pictures like this.

In case I don't get the change to blog again before Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

12/7/08

I set a goal for this past summer that Kaden would Kaden would be potty trained before I went back to school. Unfortunatly, that didn't work out like I wanted. But he has been working hard to be potty trained because he wants to go to Cheesy Cheese (Chuck E Cheese). We took him last weekend and he had a blast. So, this week he has been really good about using the potty. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and today he has worn big boy undies and used the potty with no accidents. Until today, at church he had an accident. But none the less, I had to take some pics of him on the potty.

I know you probaby don't care but this is actually this morning and he poopooed in the potty. Of course, we had to sing and dance. Last night he got a tattoo for doing #2. I'm really proud of his progress.

These pictures are from last night. Kaden was on the arm of the couch looking so cute. Of course, by the time I got the camera out and took the picture, this is what I got. That boy! Brady had to mimic and his is perfect as always!
